Site Update

The Downloads section overhaul is finally done or at least the major parts are. I had to postpone my efforts until Webs fixed the Categories Editor which took them 3 months... Web Services is next I guess, I think I'll be adding some sort of organizational system along with more links. The new theme is up, only things I might change are fonts & the banner. The login system isn't really my problem, it relies on Webs & Facebook talking, seems they're communicating well enough again for now.

Now business that some of you might actually care about like; "Where am I going with the site next?" or How do I plan on bringing in more traffic? The answers are Android app reviews and Youtube videos. I already have a Youtube channel called Techative. I haven't uploaded a video in a long time yet it's been the only source of legit traffic to the website beyond word of mouth. The Android app reviews are just something I want to do because I'm on my phone constantly and do everything other reviewers do out there besides actually write the reviews. I also go a step further and examine the technical accepts, like CPU usage and wake-locks and ad services used. I'm also decent at finding lesser know apps that are actually awesome and noticing trends early.

That's about it, I might throw in some personal articles about discoveries in my own life or get around to making some of those tech tutorials that I promised oh so long ago...

Decrypt BIOS passwords

Dogbert's Blog has a great article posted on this, don't be sucked into the rip-off services that charge to do this. This is a DIY I recommend for anyone.

Trying out Fubuntu...

Seems like it's mostly Fedora rather than having much Ubuntu to it. First thing you gotta know is the root password is set for you and it's "passwd" by default. That's the only reason I'm making this post infact, I couldn't find that info ANYWHERE. Guesswork FTW.

Long time no post...

I've been up to no good elsewhere rather than here, but now I'm back to make a few updates. I'm focusing mostly on the Downloads section right now. So far I've pulled a few things out, updated some links, and renamed a few categories as I try to reorganize. I also have a list of new stuff to add, so don't worry, it'll be better than ever.

After that I think I'm going to finish up the Web Services section, might rename it too. Then... I dunno, I might switch themes in hopes of fixing some issues. I know the login is acting up, and sadly the category editor is too. I might even switch to a Wordpress blog site or something.

That's about all I gotta say, not that many are reading. I think trying to get some more traffic would be the next step after all the above. Gotta intergrate into popular services and such.

How to fix the new Facebook chat

Posted by Sean McCall on August 19, 2011 at 1:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Hate the new Facebook chat like... EVERYONE else? Here's a way to fix some of the most annoying "features" if you're a Firefox or Chrome user. (Which I sure hope you should be)

Go to: Facebook Chat Bully's website and download the appropriate browser extension, then go to the settings for it and fix your frustration! I personally enabled the first 3 and that was good enough for me. Hopefully Facebook will get their act together and fix this silliness for real, but until then enjoy & endure! 8)
